We'd never stopped at New Haven on our boating travels, and when I asked my parents and relatives about it, their answers were nearly identically "we brought the kids to the Peabody museum a lot as kids..." Hannah had found a pole studio she got really excited about stopping at. So, clearly, it was worth a stop. And it was!

We grabbed a mooring from the Pequonnock Yacht Club, and from the getgo they were super helpful and responsive. With the mooring, we got access to the club bar, which was well-stocked and with a fun bartender. I hung out there for the evening catching up on work while Hannah went into the city to do some pole and lyra classes.

Friday, we went into the city to go have a nice dinner, and found that they were running some sort of bike racing event through downtown, which was entertaining to watch a bit as bikes whizzed by. But we hopped into a well-reviewed cocktail bar, Ordinary, and had some fascinating drinks there to pregame before dinner. Hannah's first drink had raspberry sorbet, and my first drink had a housemade clementine lollipop.

After that, we had a pretty good but largely-forgettable dinner at Olea with a completely indifferent waiter. We made a reservation for an escape room at 2:30pm for Saturday, forcing us into the city at some point.

Saturday, we slept in (it had been way too long) and eventually got the scooters ashore and got lunch at a little Creperie before doing the escape room, Before Moonrise, which was actually very very high quality, in our top 3 for sure. We got on the leaderboard for the month in 2nd place, and then wandered off to Hoax Brewing to get some beer in the lovely weather. Hannah's excitement at seeing 4 sours on the menu turned to horror when she saw the flavors (cotton candy, orange soda, etc.) and had to settle for a stout (I had an orange soda sour).

We decided to go back and do another escape room, The Crypt, at the same place, and narrowly missed top 3 for the month by about 1 minute, alas. It wasn't nearly as good as Before Moonrise, but was still quite good, we were just a little stupider than usual (blame the beer). We got some pizza for dinner at Modern Apizza (apparently Apizza is a New Haven traditional thing, its own style of pizza), which was great, and then headed back to the boat for a chill evening, dinghying back aboard just as the sun went down.

New Haven definitely made it onto our repeat list the next time we're up this way, whenever that is. Tomorrow we head to Port Washington to stage up for our flight to Kansas City this weekend for a friend's wedding.
